Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains what personal data FairlyRanked collects, why, and what rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). It describes the site as it is today: you can read every page without an account, and the site has no forms.
Who we are
FairlyRanked is run by ORION WEB LTD, the controller of your personal data. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZB563242.
FairlyRanked is a trading name of ORION WEB LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10791302). Registered office: The Vista Building, 30 Calderwood Street, London SE18 6JH. VAT number GB269594541. Contact: hello@fairlyranked.com.
For anything about your data, email hello@fairlyranked.com or write to us at the registered office.
What we collect
When you visit the site
Cloudflare, which hosts the site, records each request to it: your IP address and approximate country, the page or file requested and when, your browser, operating system and device type (from your browser’s user agent), and whether the request was served or blocked by security rules. ORION WEB LTD staff who manage the site can view and analyse this in Cloudflare’s dashboard, to run, secure and improve the site. Cloudflare also sets one strictly necessary security cookie: see the cookie notice.
Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and visits, uses no cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint visitors.
FairlyRanked sets no cookies of its own. Your theme choice and the models in your compare tray are kept in your browser’s local storage on your device and are never sent to us: see the cookie notice.
When you email us
If you email hello@fairlyranked.com, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and what you write. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the message to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google (Google Workspace). We use your email only to reply and to deal with what you raise, such as correcting a fact.
What we do not collect
We do not ask you to sign up, we have no forms, we set no cookies of our own and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- Delivering the site, its security and analytics: our legitimate interests in running and protecting the site and understanding how it is used.
- Emails: our legitimate interests in replying to you and keeping the site accurate.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare hosts and protects the site, provides Web Analytics and forwards our email (Cloudflare Email Routing).
- Google hosts our mailbox (Google Workspace), where the emails you send us are stored.
Transfers outside the UK
Cloudflare processes data in many countries, including the United States. For transfers from the UK to the US, Cloudflare relies on its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension; if that were unavailable, it relies on Standard Contractual Clauses with supplementary measures. Google uses equivalent safeguards.
Links to retailers
When you follow a link to a retailer, you leave FairlyRanked. The retailer, and any affiliate network that tracks the link, may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies. We do not control what they collect.
How long we keep it
- Server logs and analytics: Cloudflare keeps this data only for as long as it needs it to run, secure and report on the service, under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab), which does not set a fixed period.
- Emails: we keep them for as long as we need them for legal, administrative and record-keeping purposes, and to investigate technical issues.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
- ask for data you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere.
To use any of these rights, email hello@fairlyranked.com. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before the site collects any more personal data, for example before we offer email price alerts, and the date at the top will change.
